A military judge will hear motions in the case of a North Carolina soldier who was recalled to duty so he could be tried for a 1985 triple slaying.
Col. Patrick Parrish will hear motions Thursday from the defense team of Army Master Sgt. Timothy Hennis and military prosecutors who say Hennis killed a woman and her two daughters at their Fayetteville home more than two decades ago.
Hennis was stationed at Fort Bragg at the time of the killings. He was convicted in state court and given a death sentence before he was acquitted in a retrial. Hennis retired from the military in 2004, but new DNA evidence in the case led the Army to recall him to duty in 2006 so he could be tried in military court.
