DURHAM, N.C. -

On Thursday, April 17th at 10:00 AM, North Carolina Central University students will host a Voter Rally and March to highlight the first day of Early Voting for the May 6th Primary. The event will take place at the Hoey Administration Circle on the North Carolina Central Campus. The Circle is located off Fayetteville Street in front of Administration Building.

After the rally, organizers say students will march to an early voting site at the Holy Cross Catholic Church at 2438 S. Alston Ave. Durham. According to NCCU, voter registration for 18-24 year olds has more than doubled in North Carolina in 2008, compared to 2004. Organizers say the numbers have increased in part due to the state's new Same Day Registration law, which allows a person to both register and vote at an early voting site up to May 3rd.
