Durham school board leaders are getting creative when it comes to easing overcrowding.
Today the Board of Education will discuss plans to convert the Lakewood YMCA into a school.
Last month the board unanimously approved a three way deal. Durham County will buy the Lakewood "Y", lease part of it back to the YMCA of the Triangle, renovate the building and open a 300-student middle school there.
Current plans have the school opening for the 2010-2011 school year.
