Durham Public School leaders are facing more budget cuts after an estimated $14.2 million shortfall.
County agencies will need to cut six percent of their respective budgets and outside agencies, like the school board, are facing a three percent cut.
The school district has to now budget creatively and find areas to cut $3 million.
"We're looking at staff freezing. We're not actually going to cut any staff at this point, when we're cut in the middle of the year, we can't cut a lot of the programs. We wouldn't want to eliminate them because they're vital to our academic achievement," said Hank Hurd, Chief Operating Officer of Durham Public Schools.
The School board will address the county request during tonight's commissioners meeting.
