RALEIGH, N.C. -

Thousands of RBC Bank customers woke up Friday morning to find their bank accounts had been overdrawn thousands of dollars.

Company officials said the problem is now fixed.

Officials said the bank received an erroneous file from our electronic payments processor, TSYS, which processes the debit and credit transactions.

When customers went to bed Thursday night, many said their accounts were fine.

Friday morning they woke up to find their debit cards getting declined and their account balances in the negative.

Company officials said Friday there were no security concerns associated with the computer glitch.

"The error with our processing company was resolved quickly this morning," said Scott Custer, RBC Bank chairman and CEO. "We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this situation may have caused for our clients."

Custer said although the issue has been resolved, any customers who have questions about their accounts should contact their banker or call (888)769-2544.
