Teen Surrenders To Shooting Charge

DURHAM, N.C. -

A man wanted in the shooting investigation of a 16-year-old girl has turned himself in at the Durham Police Department.

Joshua McClain, 17, of 2819 Rochelle St., turned himself in Tuesday and was being held on a $520,000 bond.

He is charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and one count of discharging a firearm within the city limits.

The shooting was reported around midnight on June 20 at Atka Court near Holloway Street in Durham.

The girl who was shot had been standing with a group of people when a man approached the crowd and fired gunshots. The girl was shot in the back of the head and was transported to Duke University Medical Center. It is believed that the girl was an innocent bystander.
