DURHAM, N.C. -

A Durham church where vandals burned multiple busses was supported by the Christian community Sunday.

Friday, vandals set fire to two busses owned by Fellowship Baptist Church in Durham.

Two other busses were also damaged in the fire.

"It hurts a little bit and yet, it's a bump in the road," Pastor Rick Finley said. "We'll figure out a way to go on."

Sunday, David Hines road a borrowed bus to church because the usual bus he would ride was burned.

"Why would somebody do that to one of our busses," Hines said. "We didn't do nothing to them, so i'm like, why would they do that?"

Everything that was flammable on the busses burned, except the cover of a bible.

The edges are marked with soot, but the words "Holy Bible" are seen clearly in their gold lettering.

Pastor Finley says it's what's in the bible that allows church members to forgive the vandals.

"If God can forgive me for my sins, I don't have any right to hold anyone else's sins against them," Pastor Finley said.

Each sunday, more than 300 people hop on the busses to get to church.

In just three days a bus ministry that was dead had new life thanks to a few loaned busses.

"I think the first thing i thought was, 'We gotta get some more busses,'" Finley said. "We had calls from as far away as Charlotte, wanting to loan us busses for today."

Pastor Finley said he doesn't question why the vandalism happened.

In his sermon Sunday, he told parishioners, "If you think or if i think that we are going to cruise through life unscathed, we've got another thing coming."

Still, he hopes one day the church can reach the vandals like they reach into neighborhoods every Sunday.
