Families are still searching for answers, the day after a wreck that killed two people and left another injured in Durham.
The single car accident happened along Old Oxford Highway near Craven Street.
The driver, 19 year old Marcus Rogers, was last listed in critical condition at Duke University Hospital; at last check however, the hospital had no information on him.
Demonte Cissell, 22, and 16 year old Destinee Taylor were both killed.
"She was a cheerful, joyful little young lady; liked to have fun," said Destinee's grandfather, Tony Vaughan.
Taylor had just finished up her first day of tenth grade at Hillside High School on Tuesday when the car she was riding in careened off the side of the road, rolled several times and crashed into the woods.
"I just hate to see anybody pass like this," said Destinee's stepfather, James Daye. "I can imagine the pain and suffering that she probably went through in this."
Wednesday, her family picked through the debris left behind.
"Just looking. Maybe I missed something last night," said Vaughan, adding that he hoped to find something belonging to Destinee.
"I just want to get my own aspect of what happened," said Daye. "The police tell you one thing, other people tell you one thing, and you pretty much want to come here and see for yourself what happened."
Police haven't finished their investigation, but say speed was a factor; the car left the road, crossed a ditch and somehow ended up in the trees, snapping branches more than 10 feet in the air.
"To be going that fast and come this distance, I mean, you had to be going pretty fast," said Daye. "You got a good 50-60 yards right there of field, and you still couldn't stop."
Destinee's mother told NBC17 she's not ready to talk about what happened, saying it still hasn't sunk in yet.
Families are still trying to work out funeral arrangements.
