A Durham police officer was injured Monday night after his gun went off in his hand.
Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police, said the officer was cleaning his gun at home around 9:30 p.m. when it accidently went off. Michael said the officer injured his left hand and was taken to Duke Hospital where he was treated and released.
The name of the officer was not released.
