Durham City employees will likely receive health care from an outside source, if members of the City Council approve the decision.
The move is part of the City Manager's efforts to cut the overall city budget by nearly four percent.
Replacing the in-house medical staff will save about $300,000 a year.
The contracted company will likely be Duke Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
If passed, city workers will begin receiving medical services from the new company in November.
