DURHAM, N.C. -
The City of Durham is in the process of implementing a GPS system for city vehicles.
The Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system is already being used by Wake County vehicles. The new system will track the location and status of vehicles and equipment in real time and will assist in accident investigations.
About 125 units will be installed, but city officials say more units may be installed in the future.
