School board members will soon walk 26.2 miles -- but not all at once.
At Tuesday's Wake school committee of the whole meeting, the board voted to show a united front of health by agreeing to walk a marathon.
Anne McLaurin, the board member who put forth the recommendation for vote, said the group could walk when they could. Members have until the end of May.
Rosa Gill, board chair, asked why it had to be 26.2 miles.
McLaurin, said "It's the extra mileage that makes it a marathon."
The group plans to use pedometers they received during an earlier meeting to record their miles walked.
