The Wake County School Board voted to pull funds from North Garner Middle. This amounts to a loss of $234,950 for teachers that help with accelerated learning programs, Spanish and other program areas that are not related to magnet schools.

The board questioned whether or not the school should continue to receive the funds if it was no longer a magnet school. Kevin Hill, board member, said “What is money being used for? Let’s not use magnet money for other program needs.” The board continued discussion by reiterating that if the teachers are needed at the school, then the funds should come from another source. Rosa Gill, board chair, said “That’s a discussion principal should have with assistant superintendent.” Timeline: 2005-06 N.
