Mayor, UNC Chancellor To Cast Votes Today

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Chancellor James Moeser, Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy, Faculty Chair Joe Templeton and Student Body President J.J. Raynor will cast their votes in the North Carolina primary at 2 p.m. today (April 17) - the first day of early primary voting at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.


Other student leaders and members of the University community who are registered voters living in Orange County plan to join them as class and work schedules permit.

Voting takes place in the faculty lounge on the 2nd floor of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.

Dates and times for early voting at the Morehead are:

Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday through Friday, April 21-25 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday through Friday, April 28-May 2 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 3 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.


Individuals registered to vote in Orange County may participate in early voting at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, 250 E. Franklin St. and at other sites in the county. Across North Carolina, officials are encouraging early voting as an easy way to cast votes and participate in the political process. Voter registration is up across the state and lines are expected at polling places on May 6.
