On Wednesday, Orange County's District Attorney said Eve Carson's autopsy report may be unsealed by the end of June.

Jim Woodall filed a motion to have it sealed on April 29th. He said he wanted to give police 60 days to develop and follow up on leads in Carson's murder. He said since those 60 days will be up by the end of June, the report may be released.

This afternoon, an Orange County judge was supposed to hear a motion to intervene filed by The News and Observer to have the autopsy unsealed. However, Laurence Lovette's attorney said she did not receive the motion to intervene until this morning and was not able to look over it. Meanwhile, DeMario Atwater's attorney did receive it in time. The court requires each attorney to have the motion at least five days prior to the hearing.

Laurence Lovetter, 17, and Demario Atwater, 21, are both in jail for the murder of Carson.

Woodall also said today he received some discovery from Chapel Hill police on Monday that is a couple thousand pages in length, as well as CD's and DVD's. He said his office is still working to get all of the information indexed and numbered.

In addition,  Lovette'e attorney asked the judge to have her client's bond reduced from $3 million to $500,000 security bond. That motion was denied.

The hearing on the autopsy report has been moved to June 11 at 2 p.m. in Orange County.

A hearing is also set for July 7 to decide if Atwater will face the death penalty if he's convicted. Lovette would not face the death penalty because of a Supreme Court ruling in 2005 that prohibits anyone under the age of 18 at the time they committed a crime to be executed.

Police said on March 5th, Lovette and Atwater shot and killed Carson in an apparent robbery attempt about a mile from UNC's campus.
