RALEIGH, N.C. -

Two men were found guilty Wednesday of charges relating to a shooting near NC State's campus last year.

A man and a woman were injured last July near Wolf Village Apartments when three people began shooting. The two injured later recovered.

Ryan Alexander Barnes, 20, Leroy Barnes Jr., 19, and Terrell Maurice Grimes, 16 were later arrested and charged. Ryan Barnes was a sophomore at NC State, the other two suspects are unaffiliated with the university.

Ryan and Leroy Barnes appeared in court Wednesday.

Ryan Alexander Barnes was found guilty on the felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was sentenced to six to eight years. He was also sentenced to 20-33 months for the charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Charges against Leroy Barnes were dismissed, including a murder charge and charges of intent to kill. He was found guilty on conspiracy to commit intent to kill assault with a deadly weapon and received a sentence of six to eight years.

It was later found that the shooting was the result of a gang hit ordered from jail.

A letter in possession of Leroy Barnes Jr. indicated that the shooting was ordered by Alex Dorsey from inside the Wake County Jail. The letter detailed instructions for the shooting, and naming one of the victims. The warrant also indicated three of the suspects are members of a gang.

Barnes will not be near other gang members while in jail, according to his file.
