WENDELL, N.C.

Nutrition, transportation, and access to quality health care were some of the issues discussed today at a health forum in Wendell. Residents from eastern Wake County were invited to the forum to share their concerns in anticipation of the opening of satellite medical facilities for WakeMed, Rex and Duke Raleigh hospitals.

"This to assess where the people are, where they want to go and how do we as providers address the needs of eastern Wake county," said Rep. Linda Coleman, of N.C. House District 39, which includes Wendell, Zebulon and Knightdale.

Coleman said the concerns expressed during the forum will be presented to hospital administrators.

The forum also included a health fair with free screenings and information about preventive care, along with car seat safety checks and activities for kids.
