The construction of a new police station in Apex has some business owners fearing for their livelihood.
During an 18-month construction of the public safety facility, public parking will be limited.
About 150 parking spots will be temporarily eliminated and business owners like Joe Foresta said it could hurt the downtown economy.
Foresta proposed a plan to the Town Council that he said will improve the situation, providing not only parking spaces but a park directly across from the police station.
"It's going to affect businesses not only in the 200 block but also in the 100 block. We need to find some temporary parking in the two years of construction," Foresta said.
Foresta said his plan will help not only during construction but improve parking long-term for the town.
Council listened to the proposal but did not take action.
