Cary PD: Suspects Stole Items From Unlocked Cars

CARY, N.C. -

Cary Police are attempting to locate two suspects they say are responsible for breaking into more than 30 unlocked cars.

Police say the incidents happened near Electra Drive in northern Cary between 11 p.m. on September 20 and 3 a.m. Sept. 21.

The two suspects went through the area and stole items from unlocked vehicles. Some of the stolen property was recovered as the suspects fled the scene and has been returned to the owners.

The suspects are described as white males. One man is between 6'-6'2" tall, 175-180 pounds with a light colored beard, fair skin, sandy blond hair and was seen wearing a white and green ball cap, white t-shirt, blue jeans and with a black backpack. The second suspect is between 5'8"-5'10" tall, 160-165 pounds with a darker complexion than the first suspect, dark colored hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Cary Police remind citizens to lock their vehicles and released the following tips:
• Never leave a firearm in an unattended vehicle.
• Park in well lighted areas.
• Always roll up the windows and lock the car, even when it is in front of your home.
• Hide items from view - If you have a trunk place these items there. If you have an SUV with an open back consider the glove box or other storage bin underneath the seats.
• Limit buying expensive items and leaving them in your car for long periods of time.
• Never leave GPS units/ mounts visible when vehicle is unattended.
• Remove after market stereo equipment from the dash.
• Take care not to leave personal identification in your vehicle.
• If you have an alarm on your vehicle - activate it before leaving your vehicle.
