Why: The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina is not immune to the economic crisis we face. As spending decreases, so does public charity giving. Unfortunately, the number of hungry people and those at risk of hunger in our area continues to increase.
"Events like the Falls River Town Center food drive take on an even greater importance in these tough economic times," says Christy Simmons, manager of public relations for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. "We thank the residents of Falls River and the surrounding communities for supporting our mission to fight hunger."
