The Airport Authority on Friday discovered that the wastewater line to recently completed Terminal 2 was incorrectly connected during the construction of the facility, resulting in the inadvertent release of about 450,000 gallons of effluent into a stormwater retention pond.
As soon as the incorrect connection was found, the Authority immediately stop the flow of water and the connection is being corrected.
Authority officials said there is no evidence of adverse environmental impacts.
The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources has been notified of the incident.
