RALEIGH, N.C. -

The DTV switch has many people upgrading their television sets. And that means thrift stores and landfills expect to see a lot of TV come in over the next few months.

Local thrift stores want working TV's. Owners said they can re-sell them and make money for their charities.

Many places including the Salvation Army, Goodwill and Cause for Paws will take them off your hands.

"We give money to non-profit animal wellness programs, we're working with Second Change Pet adoptions right now, but they can bring their TV's in and we'll sell them to help the animals," said Charles McCombs, Cause for Paws Partner.

To donate your unwanted working TV you can find thrift store locations in the Triangle area at the Salvation Army, Goodwill or Cause for Paws Web sites.

If your TV doesn't work you can take it to either of the Wake County Landfills. They can recycle many parts of your unwanted or broken TV.

To dispose of an unwanted or broken TV you can drop it off at the South Wake or North Wake Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Monday through Saturday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

For more information, visit the Wake County's Web site.

Remember, you do not need an HDTV to be able to watch TV after the February switch to digital.

If you have an analog TV you can get a converter that will allow you to watch TV after the switch.
