Broughton High School's 166-member marching band practised on the school's track Monday morning.
This group is among 11-hundred hopefuls and counting.
They performed the patriotic selection "Grand Old Flag" during last year's Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, but it's an even better fit for the inaugural activities in our nation's capitol in January.
Broughton Drum Major Kevin Knaup said, the music "gives me chill bumps every time because I know what it stands for and what it means to our country."
In 1989, Broughton performed in the inaugural parade for George H. Bush.
If selected this time around, the band must raise $40-thousand for a three day, two night adventure to Washington, D.C.
Band Director Jeffery Richardson seriously joked, "If it's not us, whoever it is from North Carolina, we wish them the best of luck and and I hope they can find a hotel room because I sure can't!"
Performers should find out if they're selected by mid-December.
