Durham city leaders are expected to meet tonight at 7 p.m. for a regular city council meeting.
The council is expected to go over the following items:
- City leaders will decide on paying up to $130,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to pay for roofing replacement and related improvements for the New Bethel and L.W. Reid elderly housing developments.
- The council will also vote on accepting the donation of playground equipment and its installation in Old North Durham Park by the Central Park School for Children.
- The council is expected to vote on a contract between the City of Durham, the District Attorney for the Fourteenth Prosecutorial District and the Administrative Office of the Courts. The contract is to pay for one full-time Assistant District Attorney position, acting as prosecutor for the Gang and Habitual Felon Task Force. The contract costs $60,000.
- City leaders are expected to vote on a nine-year lease with CLF Limited Partnership for Police Substation District #3 at 10 Consultant Place.
City leaders are also expected to discuss its role in the proposed role in the Federal Stimulus Package.
The meeting will take place at Durham City Hall on Wednesday evening.
