A Cary man was killed Tuesday after a tree fell on him while he was trying to cut it down.
Adam Hughes, 39, was in his backyard at 1816 Tarbert Drive when the 28 foot tall Oak tree fell on him.
Cary police say no one saw the accident, so officials don't know how the tree fell. Hughes' girlfriend was inside the home when the accident occurred. She heard the tree fall and saw Hughes lying by the tree.
Hughes died before paramedics arrived.
Officials add that apparently Hughes was attempting to cut down the tree the proper way by tying a rope around the tree.
