RALEIGH, N.C. -

From flowers to hot dogs, gas prices are taking a toll on a number of small business owners, including two right here in the Triangle.

Snoopy's Hot Dogs on Wake Forest Road says delivery fees have gone up 150 percent because of rising fuel prices.

That's why last week instead of specials on a sign outside the building, owner Larry Cerilli wrote:

"The heck with polar bears and $4 gas -- Let's drill."

But Cerilli says it's not the polar bears he's got beef with, it's gas prices.

"The four dollar gas prices means everything's gone up. My food has gone up, my delivery charge has gone up... so all I'm saying, we've got the oil here, let's just drill," said Cerilli.

A couple streets over, Watkins Flowers of Distinction is also feeling the pinch from the pump.

"Every vendor that we buy from has added a surcharge to their invoices and so we're having to pay it there. Plus at the gas pump that we're having to pay and then making deliveries," said owner Doug Jones.

Both Jones and Cerilli say, for the past six months, they've been eating the additional costs from deliveries.

But they warn customers may soon have to pay more if gas keeps going up. And that may mean an extra dollar per flower delivery or a more expensive hot dog.
