It took hundreds of jumps and hours of dancing to get things just right but high school kids from the Super Skippers jump rope team, including Allison Forster, and the Holly Springs School of Dance said they are ready for the big day.
"I think it's so exciting. I'm going to be a part of the Macy's Day Parade. Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of going there," Forster said.
Dancer Caitlin Seipel agrees.
"I am beside myself. I'm so ready," Seipel said.
Super Skippers coach Gary Anderson and Holly Springs dance teacher Marilyn Chappell said both groups will be taking about 20 people from their own team, joining others in New York City.
"We've gathered 150 jumpers and met at Nationals in Texas to practice. This has been a year in the making," Anderson said.
Chappell said it will be an amazing experience.
"They're going to be dancing with the Mike Miller Dance Team so there will be dancers from all over the country," Chappell said.
But the teams said preparing for such a big event comes with some challenges.
"We do a routine called the eggbeater and it's really hard learning the positions," Forster said.
Caitlin Seipel explains what her team had to do to prepare.
"We got the video and had to learn the dance by ourselves at home. Then, we came here about twice a week to practice it," Seipel said.
And because of all that hard work, the instructors said their teams are ready.
"It's kind of a once in a lifetime experience," Anderson said.
"It's a story that they will talk about with their grandchildren how they went to NYC for the Macy's Day Parade," Chappell said.
Now, the teams said it's about getting into the spirit of it all.

Several years ago 3 of our children marched in the Macy's Parade with the Cary High School Band. This year our granddaughter jumped rope with the Super Skippers. Her mom was one of our children that marched with the band!

Watched the West Johsnton High School band last year in the parade (they did an amazing job)and now another local group to cheer on! What a wonderful opportunity for North Carolinians to be represented on a world stage like this. Enjoy New York and safe travels!
