The Wake County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing related to the Little River Reservoir Water Supply Watershed at 2 p.m. Monday in the 7th floor conference room of the Wake County Courthouse.
Following the public hearing, commissioners will discuss and vote on a recommendation to adopt six resolutions and ordinances to amend the Wake County Land Use Plan and Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).
· LUPA 04-07: The Wake County Land Use Plan text amendments incorporating the proposed critical area density and watershed overlay development standards.
· LUPA 04-07: The Wake County Land Use Plan map amendments reflecting the proposed critical area density and watershed overlay development standards.
· OA 05/07: UDO text amendment to create the standards for the proposed Residential-120 Watershed (R-120W) Zoning District.
· OA 06/07: UDO text amendment to modify the standards of the Water Supply Watershed District (WSOD 1 and 2).
· ZP-865-08: Proposal to rezone properties in the critical area draining into the proposed Little River Reservoir from R-80-W (minimum 80,000 sq. ft. residential lot) to R-120-W (minimum 120,000 sq. ft. residential lot).
· ZP-866-08: Proposal to apply the Overlay Districts standards in text amendment OA 06/07 to the Little River Reservoir Water Supply Watershed, affecting properties in the critical and non-critical areas.
These amendments to the Wake County Land Use plan and Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) will rezone the affected properties to R-120 zoning which translates to no more than one (1) dwelling per every three acres. The amendments will further limit land development in the water supply watershed area and are proposed to help the Wake County and the City of Raleigh obtain state and federal regulatory approval for the Little River Reservoir.
