Town officials and Novant Health representatives will be at tonight's Rockin' at the Crossing free outdoor concert to provide information and enlist community support for a hospital in Holly Springs.
Novant Health and Holly Springs are looking at building the 46-bed Holly Springs Hospital near the intersection of Ralph Stephens Road and Highway 55.
Once complete it would employ more than 200 people, making it the second largest employer in the town. Novant Health will file Aug. 15 for state approval. If given approval, the hospital would open in July of 2012.
Rex Hospitals and WakeMed are also both applying to the state to add more beds to their hospitals. The state limits the number of hospital beds in a particular area.
Rockin' at the Crossing concerts are in the parking lot of Holly Springs Crossing shopping center at the corner of Holly Springs and Bass Lake roads. The events last from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Music starts at about 6 p.m.
Those who live or work in the Holly Springs area can submit letters online inside Java Divine coffee bar in support of the hospital. Other organizers will circulate through the crowd seeking letters.
This is the fourth season for Rockin' at the Crossing, which is sponsored by Bass Lake Draft House.
