Volunteers are needed at Project Homeless Connect Orange County, a one-day, one-stop center to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 25, to provide people experiencing--or at risk of experiencing--homelessness with a broad range of services. These services include housing, employment, health, dental and mental health care, social service benefits, disability and veterans' benefits, legal services, personal care (haircuts, foot care, etc.) and lunch.
Organizers anticipate serving more than 150 people at the Orange County event, with the help of hundreds of volunteers. The event will be held at the Hargraves Community Center, 216 N. Roberson St., in Chapel Hill.
Volunteers are needed in a variety of positions including escorting homeless guests through the event, conducting intake and exit interviews, photographing the event, serving as parking attendants, distributing gift bags, and setting up before and cleaning up after the event.
If you are interested in participating or would like to learn more about the event, please contact Meredith Costa, (919)923-2559, mcosta@hiddenvoices.org.
