About 300 people are needed to fill the jobs that will be created when Kohl's Department Stores opens its Fuquay-Varina and Knightdale stores in October, officials said Monday.

A job fair is scheduled for interested applicants August 10 to 14. Applicants should visit http://www.kohlscareers.com or call 877-NEW-KOHLS (877.639.5645) - a 24-hour job hotline - to obtain further details, begin the application process and secure an interview slot.

Kohl's has about 130,000 associates nationwide. The Fuquay-Varina and Knightdale stores will hire associates for cash register operation, department service, customer service, early morning stocking, truck unloading, housekeeping and evening signage/pricing updates. New hires will receive competitive wages and medical insurance as well as 401(k), employee stock ownership and merchandise discounts.

This fall Kohl's celebrates the opening of its 1,000th store and 47 environmentally friendly stores, 45 of which will pursue LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The job fair times are as follows:

August 10 & 11 -- 10:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.

August 12 & 14 -- 12:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

August 13 -- 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Knightdale, the job fair will take place at the Lion's Club, 426 First Ave.

In Fuquay-Varina, the job fair will take place at the Holiday Inn Express, 511 N. Judd Parkway NE.
