The new Aversboro Elementary School opened today with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Garner Chamber of Commerce, Aversboro Elementary School, an Honor School of Excellence, and Skanska USA Building Inc., joined in the ceremony. Skanska demolished the old Aversboro Elementary School in June, and has replaced it with a brand new facility located only 30 feet behind the original at 1605 Aversboro Road in Garner.
The school will accommodate more than 580 students.
This 84,000-square-foot facility includes a two-story classroom wing of 45,500 square-feet and a contiguous one-floor building that includes a kitchen, administration offices, and art, music, kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classrooms.
