RALEIGH, N.C. -

A candidate for District Court Judge in Wake County District 10 has been arrested and charged with driving while impaired, according to Raleigh Police.

Mark Perry, 49, was arrested for DWI at Wade Avenue and Woodburn Road just after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

According to his campaign website, Perry practices law, concentrating in criminal defense.

Perry is running in a non-partisan election for the District Court seat Judge Shelley Desvousges will leave in December.

When reached by phone, Perry said that he was a falliable human.

"I am a human being, and falliable ... and judge not lest you be judged," said Perry.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.
